Krupskaia: Este zguduitor! Ce surpriză! Închipuie-ţi! Trebuie să mergem acasă, dar cum? Totul mi se pare atât de neaşteptat! (în cartea lui Volkogonov, pag. 138). Era atât de neaşteptat pentru „conducătorul revoluţiei proletare”: miniştrii, demnitarii şi țarul fuseseră arestaţi. Alţii făcuseră revoluţia părintele căreia s-a dorit. S-a grăbit să plece spre Rusia.
